As you might expect, showy Barbra Streisand Hybrid Tea Rose (Rosa 'WEKquaneze' PP #13,120), produces large shapely mauve flowers which have a strong sweet scent. These exquisite, clean lavender blooms are worth singing about!

Of course Barbra needed a namesake Rose, after her iconic songs "Secondhand Rose" song "The Rose" stunned the world. She famously approached hybridizer Tom Carruth at Week's Roses with her requirements: beautiful classical form, eye-catching color and marvelously intense fragrance!

Planting and Application:

Cool, clear color saturates all 35 petals of these Hybrid Tea blooms. Barbra Streisand blooms command a dramatic stage presence and show off strikingly well against deep, glossy-green leaves of this bush Tea Rose.

  • Trust avid Rosarian Barbra Streisand to choose a vigorous modern Tea as her namesake...after all, there are over 600 cultivars on her estate. This is a hardy, healthy choice expertly grown and shipped by the team.
  • Use several of these upright, bushy plants to create a well-endowed garden feature. The pointed and shapely buds open into a perfect mauve blushing darker.
  • You'll be pleased to know Barbra Streisand Rose shows good disease resistance and an Old Rose/Citrus fragrance. Even a single bloom in a bud vase is pure perfection!
  • Snip a long stem at a 45-degree angle using sharp bypass pruners and place into water right away. Prep for the vase by removing all the foliage below the water line.
  • The more flowers you cut, the more you encourage repeat flushes of blooms. Why not take cut flowers to schools, nursing homes and hospitals to say "thank you" to our hard-working helpers?

#ProPlantTips for Care:

We recommend that you consider a prime spot for Barbra Streisand Rose. Not that she is a fussy diva; but because she has such star power!

  • Select a planting spot with full sun, well-drained soil and good air circulation. Keep the area tidy with mulch; bag and remove all leaf litter promptly.
  • Read our Planting Guide for expert advice for installing this gorgeous purple Hybrid Tea Rose bush. Always add Nature Hills Root Booster to your order for use during planting, and as a top-dressing for mature plants.
  • Roses perform at their peak with a regular schedule of water. It's best to use soaker hoses or drip irrigation, rather than overhead watering.
  • Prune all the canes down to six inches in early spring. Wait until you start to see precious signs of new life once again.
