Petite, pink beauty with three-season blooms, the Autumn Chiffon™ Encore® Azalea, (Rhododendron 'Robled' PP15862) is already well-known for its repeat bloom, sun tolerance and outstanding broad-leaved evergreen foliage, but Autumn Chiffon™ kicks it up a notch with fantastic pink and darker pink, bi-colored blooms and a petite, space-saving size!
As light and delicate as chiffon, your Encore® series Autumn Chiffon™ Azalea offers blooms of supreme delicacy! Each 3-inch, trumpet-like blossom features an elegant, soft-pink shade with a freckled splash of darker pink at the center! This acts like a bullseye for pollinators and Hummingbirds to come to seek out the nectar for an early spring treat! Then Encore® Azaleas keep them coming back with a flush of summer blooms, and continue to feed pollinators with a fall rebloom too!
With an upright, rounded nature that is both heat and drought-tolerant, you will see Autumn Chiffon™ has a beauty that is matched by its easy-care nature! It's even mildew and disease resistant! Hardy Azaleas throughout USDA growing zones 7 to 9, these 2-3 foot tall and wide little balls of pink cheer are sure to brighten your day! Or use their charm to bring cheer to a friend or family member that needs easy-care joy or has a reason to celebrate as well!
Autumn Chiffon™ is small enough to fit anywhere you'd like a splash of color! You could even place a few in containers for your outdoor living space! Porches, patios, pool decks, and balconies, anywhere you have some sun, container gardeners can enjoy having a repeat blooming ornamental flowering thriller and filler in pots, planters, and fancy urns! Try framing your front door with these charming blooms, or lining the stairs to your entry with these small-scale bloomers!
If you love Azaleas, but don't have much room, or if you wish Azaleas bloomed all summer long, then Autumn Chiffon™ Encore® Azalea is for you! Create low hedges and property definition that is luxuriously easy to care for and low maintenance! Add joy and color all year long as a row of facer shrubs before a tired, leggy hedge of evergreens, or add a spark of color along your foundation plantings! Great edging along walkways and paths, or for creating pops of cheerful blooms throughout Rose gardens, cottage, and perennial borders, or adding three seasons of food sources for your butterflies in a pollinator bed and woodland garden!
Rhododendrons and Azaleas will do well in part shade or full sun, but those in the hottest growing zones appreciate some afternoon shade. Enriched well-drained, slightly acidic soil is a must. Ensure their roots have life-long symbiotic support with Nature Hills Root Booster used during planting. Remember not to plant these shallow-rooted plants too deeply. Mound them up in a hill of extra soil, leaving an inch or two of the root ball showing.
You'll then add a three-inch layer of mulch up around the base of the plant, but pull the mulch back away from touching the trunks and stems. Water consistently during the first season. Thereafter, you'll want to give them regular deep drinks when the weather gets dry.
Prune to shape, but wait until after the blooms are finished! Don't wait too long, as you might accidentally trim off next year's flowers. Avoid underplanting near your Azalea to give the roots room to spread. Feed with slow-release fertilizer for acid-loving plants.
This remarkable Encore® variety will provide you with an abundance of attractions for its diminutive size. Plant one today and see why Encore® Autumn Chiffon™ Azalea is beloved by gardeners everywhere! Reserve yours at NatureHills.com as soon as you see them in stock!
Azaleas and Rhododendrons prefer partial shade (both dappled shade all day or morning sun with afternoon shade). Plant in a slightly acidic, consistently moist, enriched, and well-drained soil location for best results. Their shallow roots dislike soggy soil but thrive with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their surface.
Encore® Autumn Chiffon™ Azalea can grow around 2-3 feet in height and width when grown in optimal conditions.
Azalea and Rhododendron shrubs are very easy to grow and low maintenance. Water during drought, prune only after flowering and fertilize with an acid-loving organic, slow-release flowering plant fertilizer.
All Azaleas are Rhododendrons but not all Rhodondendrons are Azaleas. Azalea tends to be smaller-sized with smaller leaves and stems, while Rhododendrons can be larger with stout branching and larger bloom trusses. There can both be either deciduous or broad-leaved evergreens.
