Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Growing Zones
Drop a floral bomb on the garden! Introducing Boom Chocolatta Hardy Geranium (Geranium pratense 'Boom Chocolatta') is a unique low-growing creeping perennial with finely rounded lobed foliage that is almost the star of the show! The fine-textured ornate leaves are a beautiful greenish-purplish-bronze all growing season long, sometimes even appearing near-black!
Boom Chocolatta flowers throughout the early summer through late summer and have a blueish-purple bloom that pollinators will be excited to drop by for a visit! Once the flowers start, they are long-lasting and keep flowering all summer!
Also called Cranesbill due to the unique seed pod shape, Hardy Geranium are reliable and versatile perennials that are cold hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 8, spreading up to 30 inches wide and reaching about the same height when in bloom!
Planting and Application:
Boom Chocolatta adds some dynamite to the garden with unique colored blooms and that dramatic foliage! For the most impact, use this Gernanium in groupings, in rows, and in mass plantings to amplify their high-impact color! Incredible edging and facer plants to hide garden transitions or the leggy stems of larger shrubs and trees! The spreading and naturalizing mounds are neat and tidy bunches and are perfect as a groundcover and garden filler to hide bare ground!
Use Hardy Geraniums as spilling accents in Rock gardens, in the dappled edge of woods gardens, wildflower and pollinator borders, or in the Perennial and Cottage garden! The space-saving size is ideal as a spiller and filler in your porch and patio planters! Try a Boom Chocolatta spilling over a windowbox or as dramatic filler around the base of larger container specimens! They'll do wonders for that tricky hell strip along driveways, walkways and the sidewalk too!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Perennial Geranium do best in full sun and partial shade, and are very resilient herbaceous perennials! Cranesbill needs a planting site with at least 4 hours of sunlight a day. They'll do best in well-drained soil. Use a raised bed, if your soil drains slowly.
In the late autumn, after enjoying the fall foliage, you'll trim down that year's foliage to an inch above ground level and topdress with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch to keep the crown and roots insulated and retain moisture all winter. New stems are produced from the roots each spring on this reliable deciduous perennial.
- Use in Full Sun or Partial Shade
- Moderate Moisture Needs
