There are plenty of green-leafed perennials to be had. If you're looking to mix it up a little bit and stray from the norm, we've got a perennial for you. Let PRIMO® Wild Rose Coral Bells (Heuchera PRIMO® 'Wild Rose') bring a healthy dose of difference to your garden!

From the moment this petite perennial leaves out in the spring, you're sure to be enthralled by its burgundy leaves and even more so by the dark veins that run throughout! It certainly inspires closer inspection. They will have the same growing habit and just think of the statement those dark wine-colored leaves will make next to the light green foliage of another Heuchera!

Also known as Alum Root, the dark, veined leaves are sure to draw eyes and highlight the lighter colors of other flowers! Early summer is when Wild Rose Heuchera really shines. Each year, stalks soar towards the sky sporting gorgeous pink flowers. These florets are a deep fuchsia at their base and fade to a light pink at the ends! Plus these graceful bell-shaped blooms are lovely in floral bouquets!

You won't be the only one enthralled by Wild Rose, pollinators like butterflies will stop by in droves for a chance to check out your garden's newest addition. Imagine bright butterfly wings and flitting jewel-toned Hummingbirds as they hover against the stark purple leaves! In milder climates, Wild Rose can be used as a stunning evergreen. However, given the right protection against winter winds and reliable snow cover, those in northern regions might also find their Heucheras acting like evergreens!

Planting and Application:

No matter the environment, Wild Rose will elevate your gardens and your home's curb appeal! Coral Bells excel as border plants for your Rock Gardens and perennial gardens. Wild Rose can add a bit of flavor to your front yard landscaping too! Plant these space-saving plants along your driveway or walkways for a total "wow" effect. Rose gardens are a great place to plant Wild Rose as their leaves will contrast beautifully with the ground underneath!

Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention how lovely this shade garden perennial works as an accent in container planting! Take that same idea for your garden centerpiece and plant different colored coral bells in a container! Place a container garden on either side of your entryway for a unique decoration, and mix beautifully among other Coral Bells.

Do you have a spot in the garden that's just a little too sunny for shade lovers and not quite sunny enough for those full sun perennials? Planting a Wild Rose Heuchera there will fill that spot with no problem! Use these in mass plantings to create a gorgeous ground cover for parts of your garden or landscape.

  • Decorative Deep Purple Foliage & Darker Veins
  • Light Pink Flowers & Long Graceful Slender Stems
  • Attracts Butterflies & Hummingbirds
  • Mounding Foliage Ornamentals & Fine-Textured Blooms for Bouquets
  • Great Groundcover & Container Plants, Edging & Border Plants

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Best planted in regular, moderate moisture and enriched, well-drained soil. This is one of the few Coral Bells that will thrive in both the sun and the shade! It'll keep its dazzling shade of purple best with some afternoon shade but will do just fine anywhere it's planted! Wild Rose doesn't ask much in terms of the soil it's planted in either! As long as it's given an average amount of moisture and has well-drained soil, it'll be happy as a clam! Warmer climates and mild winter locations will find their plants do better with afternoon shade.

If you live in an area with fluctuating temperatures between summer and winter, consider adding an extra layer of compost or dirt around the roots each fall to combat heaving. No matter where you live, it's always a good idea to add a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch around the base of your plant. Not only does it make the garden look neat and tidy, but it'll also help regulate the moisture your plant gets and keep some of the weeds away!

Salt doesn't bother this vigorous evergreen. Gardeners in northern areas like to plant these near the road as the frequent street saltings don't bother Heuchera one bit. Prune in early spring before new growth emerges, and every 3-5 years it’s recommended you divide your clumps to maintain vigor. There are adaptable, low-maintenance plants, and then there's Heuchera Wild Rose. You'd be hard-pressed to find a hardier little Perennial!

  • Full Sun, Part Sun, or Afternoon Shade
  • Adaptable to a Variety of Well-Drained Soils & Conditions
  • Herbaceous Perennial - Evergreen in Warm Climates
  • Salt Tolerant, Easy to Maintain & Urban Environment Tolerant
  • Prune Back in Early Spring

Yes, Heuchera Wild Rose care is that easy! Whether you're hoping to add an accent to your perennial garden or create a centerpiece for your front landscape, this is the plant for you. Order yours today to complete your outdoor projects from our expert growers at Nature Hills Nursery today!
