Make your summertime shine with these colorful, cherry red blooms. Monarda is a favorite for Butterfly Gardens. These nectar-rich flowers attract a lot of attention!

All summer long, Sugar Buzz Cherry Pops Bee Balm (Monarda didyma 'Cherry Pops') will decorate your landscape with style. These tidy plants are an improved cultivar of the wild Bergamot.

You'll love the spicy fragrance of the aromatic foliage. You'll really appreciate how nicely they perform in the landscape.

Enjoy the upright stems, long bloom time, and the way Cherry Pops Bee Balm fills out all the way to the ground with lush, dark green foliage. It will grow into a nicely rounded form.

The tubular flowers are held in dense, terminal clusters. Each flower has both an upper and lower lip, which makes it very attractive to those helpful pollinators we all want to support.

This clear red is a fantastic choice, too. Hummingbirds can't get enough of this shade!

You'll love the way these showy blooms hold up on their sturdy, square stems. No drooping, even after a rainfall.

You'll love how robust this well-branched plant will be in your garden. In fact, this is a perfect plant for beginners.

They'll just get better and better for each season. Perennials are a good value, and are a great way for gardeners to create a long-lasting landscape.

Don't have a landscape? No worries!

Plant this lovely variety of Monarda in large containers. They'll accent your patio, balcony or deck.

Use them near your small space container Victory Garden with Cabernet Splash Blueberry, Mini Snow Babe Peach and Improved Dwarf Meyer Lemon. You'll easily support proper pollination and grow a larger harvest.

How to Use Sugar Buzz Cherry Pops Bee Balm in the Landscape

Add texture, style and charm to your garden border by repeating the use of these brilliant red flowers. Use them in a winding "ribbon" of color by repeating them along the length of your bed.

They'll grow in full sun or partial shade. How many Butterfly Garden plants can say that?

Sugar Buzz was developed by modern plant breeders, who understand the needs of today's smaller landscapes. These darling plants stay compact, and will spread to the size we have listed in their Plant Highlights.

They are perfectly suited for use in the middle of the flower border. You'll want to grow plenty for cut flowers, as well.

Try them with the other Sugar Buzz series as a cheerful pop of color. The colors will complement each other. Why not mix them together when planting? You'll get a fun taste of Boho style in your space.

Space them 12 inches apart, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Mulch between the plants and keep new plantings weeded until they grow together and touch. It won't take long!

Create a very modern garden feature with a mass planting. Add additional rows, planted in a zigzagging, staggered pattern.

Even traditional gardens can use these marvelous, unique blooms. Simply replace your annual bedding plants in Boxwood-trimmed planting beds with perennial Sugar Buzz Monarda.

Underplant with spring-blooming bulbs for twice the show!

Create a full-blown Butterfly Garden as a replacement for annual beds. Partner with other Prairie-style flowers for nectar. Use Milkweed as a "host" plant for caterpillars.

Isn't it time to get serious about helping pollinators? Do your part by adding this cheerful punch of bright red as a low hedge around your Victory Garden.

Thank the bees as you gather your harvest!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Cherry Pops Bee Balm grows in both full sun or partial shade. It requires at least four hours of sunlight a day.

Provide well-drained soil, good air circulation and a regular amount of moderate water. Pay close attention to water during the first year as it gets established in your yard.

Container plants need even more water. You can use drip irrigation (it's easier than you think to set up!), or make it part of your routine to check your containers daily.

Use the "Finger Test" to see when to water. Pat down under the surface of the soil. Is it moist? You can skip watering that day, and check again tomorrow.

Is it getting dry? Time to water deeply.

Please let the dried foliage remain over winter for extra protection. In early spring, do a light cleanup and trimming of last year's growth.

You'll never, ever grow tired of this outstanding selection of the beloved North American native Bergamot. Don't be surprised if you come back for more.
