Spiraea PowderPuff™ (Spiraea x 'NHN1BH')

As part of our “Plants that stay put” series, Nature Hills introduces PowderPuff™ - our first seedless selection of a complex hybrid Spirea!  Seedless plants are all the rage, so they can safely be planted anywhere without the concern of the plant escaping into the wild and becoming invasive.

This seedless Spirea works well as a foundation plant getting only 2-3 feet tall and will spread 3-4 feet wide. The spreading form makes Powder Puff™ Spirea a nice plant for massing on a hillside or embankment eliminating mowing on those dangerous sites. Powder Puff™ also makes for great, short, informal hedges near patios and other sunny locations.

A breeding breakthrough allows a super hardy, adaptable smaller flowering shrub that works in zones 4-8. PowderPuff™ Spirea is easy to grow in most any soil as long as it is well drained and will appreciate additional water during dry periods.

The green foliage is beautifully serrated and oval, and in the fall it will dazzle you with orange and red coloration late into the season. The refined formation of the soft pink flowers are born in clusters that cover the plants on each branch tip. The florets open soft pink with a raspberry colored eye casting an overall soft pink lavender color.

You'll get the most flowers out of you PowderPuff™ Spirea in full sun but will tolerate part shade. The sterile flowers are born in June. When the first round of color finishes, if you give your plants a slight haircut removing the old flowers heads, you will be rewarded with a whole new round of flowers.

A colorful, easy to grow, seedless, and carefree flowering shrub that will appreciate a nice haircut in spring just before it starts to leaf out – and another lighter prune again after the first round of beautiful pink lavender bloom and you can keep your plants in excellent shape for decades. Order yours today!

* Seedless
* Easy to grow
