Magnificently versatile beauty! For an easy choice of small accent or specimen tree just about anywhere in your landscape, you truly can't go wrong with the Muskogee Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Muskogee')! This handsome variety features enormous, beautiful lavender blooms and many more ornamental features!

You'll love the long bloom period from summer to first frost. Long panicles of light purple flowers cover the plant from top to bottom throughout the growing season, much to the delight of all your pollinators! Muskogee blooms all summer long! It was first hybridized in 1964 and given the name "Muskogee" after the Native American Tribe.

Soft foliage droops enchantingly downward to help ground the plant to its surroundings. If you remove the lower limbs and use a row of them as small street trees, you'll showcase the beautiful exfoliating bark and gain a big dose of winter interest.

Like other Crape Myrtle trees, the Muskogee is ideally suited for formal or informal design in the home landscape. Oval Crape Myrtle leaves are bronze-colored when they first unfold in the spring. They'll deepen to a delicious green for summer and will cast a refreshing shade. The green leaves turn bright hues of radiant red before falling late in autumn.

Planting and Application:

With its dazzling streetside appeal and fluffy lavender blooms, Muskogee is a wonderful choice. The possibilities for use are almost endless! Create a small single or multi-trunked tree form by 'limbing up' these trees to expose the trunks! Underplant with small shrubs, perennials, and spring bulbs. Add a natural stone border or boulders to easily boost your curb appeal.

Plant several of them as a hedge near a patio or deck to block the afternoon sun and give airy pretty privacy. For a screen, keep the lower limbs on to use it as a large shrub. Plant them 4 feet apart, measuring from the center of the first to the center of the next.

March a row of them along the street, or driveway. For individual plants, give them 10 - 12 feet spacing between the plants. This is a very appealing large shrub or small tree that can also be grouped to create a pretty privacy screen. For the best screen, keep all the lower limbs on and allow it to grow into a friendly flowering shrub.

Use a single tree as a wonderful focal point anywhere you need a bit of excitement in your landscape. It will draw the eye in a restful way and can suit contemporary, country, rustic, or classic architecture equally as well.

Use Muskogee Crape Myrtle trees in the front lawn as part of a specimen planting. This is a luscious color choice that works very nicely with many exteriors. Try a pair of them on either side of the front walkway. You may have walked underneath an allee of Muskogee Crape Myrtles in a park. Try to recreate this wonderful experience at your house!

It only takes a few trees planted on either side to give you a similar experience. Plant the trees at least 8 feet away from the walkway, and carefully prune the arching branches to fit your space. What a memorable way to welcome guests!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This plant is very adaptable and versatile. Muskogee Crape Myrtles are easy to grow in a full sun site. The morning sun is best, with its wonderful drying power. However, you'll be delighted to know this specimen is mildew resistant, so it may not experience the troubles some other Crape Myrtles do. It will thrive in many soil types and climate conditions. Easy care and drought tolerant once established, Muskogee Crape Myrtle is often sought after for its beauty and low maintenance.

In early spring, give your Muskogee Crape Myrtle supplemental water as needed. This will help ensure the new growth is lush and full. And since the plant flowers on new growth, the extra water will give you marvelous Flower Power through the summer and into fall.

Give your tree good air circulation and plenty of elbow room to grow to the full height and width. Keep things easy for yourself! Pruning this beauty is best done by simply thinning out the branches each spring. No need to take care of the edges of the crown if it still fits into its space nicely!

The rest of the year, Muskogee is happy to thrive in low water conditions. Soil drainage is an important consideration. Create a mound or berm if your soil drains slowly. Plant directly in that mound. Remember not to plant your Muskogee too deeply in the ground. Shallow is best for this lovely plant.

  • Full Sun For The Most Blooms
  • Widely Adaptable Across Hardiness Zones
  • Regular Water & Loves Mulched Beds
  • Blooms on New Growth - Prune in Spring
  • Deer-Resistant & Low-Maintenance

You'll never regret your decision to install the lovely Muskogee Crape Myrtle Tree. It's a tried and true bestseller that works amazingly well all over the United States. Fall in love with your landscape. Order Muskogee Crape Myrtle today!
