Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. The tall green culms have a showy red sheath that catches the eye of all who see it. The culms first grow straight upright, then cascade down to form a wonderful mushroom shape.
Branches emerge at the nodes of the culms and hold delicate, downturned leaves. A mature stand of Little Red Head Clumping Bamboo grows plenty tall for screening.
Shield your family from unpleasant views and sounds with a natural sound barrier. You'll breathe deep and relax with the help of these lush plants as the wind plays through the leaves in a gentle rustle.
Little Red Head Clumping Bamboo is a gorgeous grass to use in either sun or shade. Turn heads with a sophisticated hedge…whether you want to formally shear them or allow them to develop as a free form, sculptural accent.
Although you can easily prune them down for size control, we recommend that you keep it easy on yourself. Give them enough room to reach their full height and spread listed on the Plant Highlights.
This superlative selection takes cold and heat...and will adapt to a wide variety of soil conditions. Order versatile Little Red Clumping Bamboo from the experts at Nature Hills today!
How to Use Little Red Head Clumping Bamboo in the Landscape
Smaller than other selections, Little Red Head grows into a very useful landscape asset. A single plant can be kept as a lawn planting, or a short row used to hide a shed.
Why not use them to improve the look of mature windbreaks? Their handsome kinetic energy and lavish red and green growth adds visual appeal, and the fluttering leaves further mask highway or street sounds.
Because it takes full sun or partial shade, Little Red can be grown as a hedge at the edge of your property. You'll be thrilled how well it does in dappled shade.
Create a solid screen by planting six feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.
Plant several engaging Little Red Heads in an informal grouping to soften the area near your patio seating. Vary the width between and from front to back to bring a wonderfully Zen feel to your entertainment area.
For a modern garden feature, plant a series of them 12 - 15 feet apart and mulch between. You'll appreciate each clump as an individual plant.
Don't forget outdoor lighting to extend the enjoyment into the evening and night hours. Place the light at the base, then uplight into the beautiful canopy for great effect.
Little Red Head Clumping Bamboo makes a great backdrop, as well. Place an outdoor dining table and chairs in its shade for a unique setting that will spark lively conversation under the stars.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Grow them in full sun or partial shade in warmer zones. They do fine with a little afternoon shade but need at least four hours of direct sunlight a day.
This rugged charmer tolerates both moisture and drought. They will adapt to a wide variety of soil types without worry.
The first season, help their roots get established in your soil with a consistent schedule of moderate water. You'll be thrilled with the life-long results of Nature Hills Root Booster used during planting, be sure to add a pack to your order.
Keep them trimmed in late winter. For a formal hedge, shear the sides with vertical cuts, then clean up any dried culms using hand shears.
You'll definitely treasure these non-invasive Clumping Bamboo plants with their extraordinary red stalks. Don't miss out on our limited inventory of the hard-to-find Little Red Clumping Bamboo...order now!
