Pollinators will flock to this clump-forming plant that freely naturalizes and forms lovely groundcover. The mounding foliage is gorgeously textured and puckered, forming vigorous basal clumps that are rounded green displays of long, textured leaves. It is absolutely lovely even when it's not in bloom!
Unlike the more common types of Stachys, which have soft, silvery foliage, 'Hummelo' has intriguingly glossy, dark-green foliage which remains attractive all season! Each leaf is wrinkled or puckered with tightly scalloped edges.
Tubular blooms appear in spikes rise high above the foliage from midsummer through frost. A great addition to bouquets and floral arrangements, the showy blooms are fantastic inside and out. The clumps will spread over time to form a dense ground cover, and create amazing drifts of purple flowers. This perennial plant is easy-to-grow and won the 2019 Perennial Plant of the Year!
