Blue Pacific Juniper (Juniperus conferta 'Blue Pacific') is sometimes known as the Blue Shore Juniper. It is a wildly popular Juniper, well known for its weed-choking groundcover application.

The spikey, branched and bristly texture and luxuriously green foliage have a delightful bluish tint. Its evergreen nature maintains its vibrant color, even through the winter months and summer heat.

As it flows across the ground, Blue Pacific's tips will point upward, creating a wonderful appearance. Although needled, is surprisingly soft! This living carpet of blue-tinted evergreen foliage invites you to reach out and touch it!

Lean in close enough and you'll be treated to the fresh, verdant fragrance that only a quality Juniper can emit.

The silver-accented, black cones that adorn your Blue Pacific Juniper are just another fabulous decorative feature to this already fascinating Juniper variety...and a boon for your yard's birds!

How to Use Blue Pacific Juniper In The Landscape

The handsome blue-green foliage looks best when left in its natural shape and not pruned however, you can prune if desired. Blue Pacific Shore Juniper is slower spreading because of its dense growth. Only reaching about 12-15 inches tall, it will eventually spread to upward of 8' wide.

As one of the most widely-used Junipers for groundcover purposes, Blue Pacific Juniper is especially prized not just for its size, but also for the color and versatility. A great border and edger in the sun.

The unique growth habit makes these perfect in rock gardens, urban areas and displays great salt tolerance in coastal sites. Anyplace where the conditions are often hot, arid, city pollution, and other less than ideal locations.

Asian and Zen-inspired gardens are perfect places for this beguiling groundcover to creep along around sand and rock features or verdant carpeting under trees.

Perfectly sized for containers, Juniper is wonderful for those hot sunny spots where it can be a carefree addition as a spiller plant. Happily cascading over the edges of large planters on your sun-baked patio.

This ground-hugging evergreen shrub can sure take the heat. Mass plantings of Blue Pacific bring lush greenery to those harsh sunny spots. Great for use on hillsides and as fantastic erosion control!

The dense growth makes Blue Pacific Juniper perfect for weed control around your trees, as a decorative cover over bare spots in raised beds, or let a few "flow" over your retaining walls to add a graceful topper to hardscapes.

The Blue Pacific Juniper has innumerable uses!

#ProPlantTips For Care

Blue Pacific Juniper is very hardy, adaptive to a variety of conditions, and especially heat tolerant. It's also quite resistant to winter injury.

Doing amazingly well in full sun, Blue Pacific Juniper doesn't mind a little shade or even city conditions. Those blue-green needles will hold their color just fine.

Even your friendly deer will tend to pass it by, leaving it to grow untouched and lovely all year round.

Not particular to soil type, any well-drained, sandy soils, even rocky or highly aerated soil will do Junipers just fine. Their bane is wet, soggy soil that will rot their roots.

Water consistently the first year during that crucial establishment period, then after they are well acclimated, back off and only water during a drought and supplemental watering in hot summers.

Container-planted Juniper will do will some extra attention to their watering needs, especially during summer.

Many Junipers come-and-go in popularity, but the Blue Pacific Juniper is sure to remain a favorite among gardeners for years to come. Be sure to order your living ground covering evergreens from Nature Hills Nursery today!
