These pyramidal evergreens feature ascending main branches and beautifully drooping secondary branching. The overall look is soft and very graceful.

You could study this tree for a lifetime.

There is an interesting juxtaposition between the lyrical growth habit, and the clusters of short, stick-straight, blue-green needles. As the needle clusters are held on top of the impressive branches, they lend a burst of dynamic energy to these airy, stately conifers.

Deodar Cedar makes a big statement in the landscape, but it whispers, rather than shouts.Add it to a Zen Garden, or as the living walls of an outdoor Meditation Garden room.

Watch the subtle color shifts as new foliage emerges with a tint of yellow, slowly maturing to blue-green. Enjoy the Deodars 5-inch, egg-shaped cones. They add an ornamental, decorative touch.

Excellent for screening and windbreaks in warmer hardiness Zones, Deodar Cedars tolerate hot and even humid summers with few insect or disease issues.

This evergreen has a good growth rate, and is blessedly easy to grow. Its tough, and can withstand a great deal, including wind, heat and drought.

Wildlife love it for its protective branches and tasty seeds. Youll love the wonderful aromatic scent, which is very calming. Call this your living essential oil tree.

Deodar Cedar trees are one of the most sought-after trees as a landscaping ornamental. You'll love the contrast of its elegant, drooping branches on such a proud, stately tree. Its name roughly translates to divine tree or timber of the gods, and it's easy to see why.

How to Use Deodar Cedar in the Landscape

This stylish, airy evergreen is fine-textured, with a graceful sweep to its branches. They bring a welcome sense of kinetic energy to your landscape as they bend, tip and sway in the breeze.

Deodar arent stiff little soldiers, like many evergreen trees. They dance a bit, and youll be enthralled with their performance.

Perhaps youve seen people use them as container trees. Theyll be quite happy for years in large containers. Decorate them for Christmas and other Holidays, as you wish.

Try a pair of them, flanking either side of your front entry in large, matching containers. This sophisticated selection will boost your curb appeal in a heartbeat. (No one needs to know how easy they are!)

Use a single specimen as the main design element in your garden design. Plan a large, mulched planting bed around it. Include your favorite groundcovers, Ornamental Grasses, perennials and rounded flowering shrubs to showcase their charm.

Pro Tip: place the Deodar where you need a little strategic privacy from nosy neighbors. Youll appreciate that hard-working focal point!

You can also plant several Deodar Cedar trees to play a supporting role in the background of a large garden. Lush, year-round greenery makes a wonderful backdrop to more colorful specimen and accent plants.

To create a solid screen, plant them 10 - 15 feet apart on center. Youll measure from the center of one tree to the center of the next. The branch tips will grow together.

Plant them in a staggered, zig-zagging row to easily achieve a solid screen faster. Add privacy, and create a wind or sound break with these marvelous living fences.

Youll never regret including the lovely, drought tolerant, carefree Deodar Cedar Tree as a large-scale screen.

#ProPlantTips for Care

Give full sun for the best results. Deodar is happy with direct sun all day long, but at least 6 hours of direct sunlight is required.

Well-drained soils are essential, too. Use a raised planting bed, or heap a mound of dirt 18 inches high and 3 feet wide to plant in, if you have heavy, clay soil that retains water.

Deodar Cedar trees like good air circulation, too. Please dont plant too close to your house or other structures. Give your tree at least 20 feet of wiggle room for ease of maintenance and proper air flow.

The plant is highly drought tolerant, once it is established after the first season or two. As a young tree, please give a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Protect your investment!

Use the Finger Test to see when you need to water. Poke your index finger into the soil down to the 2nd knuckle. Is it moist? Skip watering that day and check tomorrow. Is it getting dry? Give your young tree a good drink.

Youll want to add a nice, 3-inch layer of mulch to keep the root system cool. Spread out to 3 feet past the edge of the canopy.

What a fantastic choice! Youll grow to adore your Deodar Cedar tree from Nature Hills. Its a romantic, charming and rugged addition to your landscape. Order today!
