Showy and Sweet First Editions® Berry White® Panicle Hydrangea

  • Clusters of White to Deep Pink Blooms
  • Extremely Winter Hardy
  • Attracts Butterflies
  • Strong Stems and Large Cone-Shaped Blooms

While the First Editions® Berry White® Panicle Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Renba' PP28,509) may not sing, it does offer a fabulous show. We just know this gorgeous Hydrangea will make you fall for it, too. This amazing plant is sure to inspire you and your neighbors to spend a little more time outdoors.

The Berry White® Panicle Hydrangea offers large clusters of lovely flowers. The large, cone-shaped flower panicles start out white at the top, then they go through a spectacular wardrobe change as the summer heats up.

As the bloom matures, the flower color starts to deepen into a delicious, dark pink. The coloring occurs as the blooms mature, from the bottom and progresses to the top. This is a hydrangea to sigh over, you'll be so pleased with the fashionable flair it lends to your garden this summer. The color starts out white and deepens into a fabulous deep, dark red at the top of the panicle.

Strong upright stems and large gorgeous white and pink blooms make them perfect to use in cut floral arrangements. This superstar is a step forward in paniculata breeding, and color shades can vary according to planting location, changing between refreshing vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbet.

How to Use Berry White® Hydrangea in the Landscape

For effortless summer style, try a single plant, or gift yourself with a row of several. You'll love the romantic look from these easy-care shrubs. Flowers start blooming in July and take on red coloration early in the season. Flower color change is best in the fall when night temperatures are 10 degrees cooler than day temperatures.

Pollinators will also be quite excited when they find your Berry White® Hydrangea. Butterflies adore hydrangeas and can't resist the plethora of blooms they offer.

The Berry White® Hydrangea has strong, sturdy upright stems that won't droop under the weight of its impressive blooms. And its rich green foliage creates the perfect backdrop for its summertime display of blooms.

This deciduous shrub is easy to care for and drought-resistant. This variety is also extremely winter hardy and does well in urban regions. Prune late winter or early spring by cutting back by one-third, for the best and most abundant blooms. Pruning will also help it keep its shrub-like shape. For best performance, provide it with plenty of sun and medium-moisture, well-drained soil.

With such a wonderful shrub, it can be difficult to decide where to plant it. You will want to plant it where you can admire it all summer long. The Berry White® Panicle Hydrangea makes a wonderful addition as a mixed border plant or to a large container. It also looks amazing as a foundation plant under a window.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Panicle Hydrangeas handle full sun and part shade with ease! Just give them an even amount of water whenever the rain is delayed and maintain consistent moisture, especially in the heat. Plant in enriched, well-drained soil that is well mulched to better hold in moisture and keep the roots cool. Once a year in early spring pruning is best to remove the dried old blooms, reduce the overall size by about one-third, and give the tree a somewhat rounded outline from which to start growing from. Once it starts to grow, do not prune as the flowers are produced in that new growth.
