Jacob Cline Bee Balm
Attract Butterflies All Summer
The Jacob Cline Bee Balm, Monarda didyma 'Jacob Cline', is a bushy, clump-forming perennial producing large red flowers above lance-shaped, dark green, citrus-scented leaves in summer.
This plant grows well in full sun to part shade and will tolerant dry soil. It also attracts bees and hummingbirds and it is one of the most mildew-resistant bee balms.
The Jacob Cline Bee Balm flowers are fragrant and they begin to bloom in mid to late summer. They are deer and rabbit resistant.
Place Jacob Cline Bee Balm in a sunny area with good air circulation. The plant clumps may need to be thinned after several years if they get too crowded.
Attracting hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, particularly when massed, Monarda provides color and contrast for the perennial border, wild garden, meadow, herb garden or along ponds or streams.
This plant prefers neutral to alkaline soils.
