We’re proud to introduce the National Audubon Society line of native trees that have been selected to help birds and wildlife in your area! The Audubon® Native Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) is a fantastic four-season interest shrub that encourages birds to flock to your garden!

An upright, mounding, edible ornamental flowering shrub that features gracefully arching branches with long slender, toothy foliage arranged in neat pairs. Spring brings clusters of soft baby pink blossoms that will be buzzing with pollinators! Blooming in succession from base to tip, you’ll enjoy long-lasting flowers until summer!

Then summer until fall, vibrant, shiny clusters of magenta fruit adorn the intersections of each leaf pair! Edible treats for people, birds and wildlife, these colorful ornaments persist for winter interest if your avian friends don’t make off with them all first!

Planting and Application:

These ornamental gems are lovely back of the border and specimen shrubs. Creating graceful focal points and privacy, be sure to plant them where you can enjoy them from bloom to berry, and enjoy all the pollinators, wildlife and songbirds that flock to these buffets! People too can enjoy these delicious berries, similar in use as Elderberries. Harvest the plump fruit for jam and jelly, or dry them for tea!

The Audubon® website lists Thrushes, Waxwings, Finches, Mockingbirds, Thrashers, Chickadees, Titmice, Orioles, Cardinals, Grosbeaks, Sparrows, Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, and Wrens are a few of birds that will stop by!
