The Flavortop Nectarine is another fantastic examples of John H. Weinberger enormous contribution to plant production. One of the the most popular varieties with the widest range of adaptation planted today.
Introduced in 1969, Flavortop was a cross of the peach Fairtime with a seedling of an Independence Nectarine called Red King. Flavortop ripens much earlier than Fantastia Nectarine are much different in flavor and ripening time. However, both have been recognized in taste tests around the country as top flavored varieties for many years.
