The sweet heart-shaped petals of Edgy® Hearts Hydrangea bush (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Horheart') add to the charm of this ornamental woody Hydrangea with fabulous flowers! Edgy® Hearts can even be grown as a container plant for your front porch. Each ethereal, floral blossom is shaped like a heart, its edges delicately trimmed in white. Clustered together in spectacular, 10-inch bouquets, the display is one you won't want to miss!

Bigleaf Hydrangeas are renowned for their huge clusters of spectacular flowers, and Edgy® Hearts is no different in that respect. However, Edgy® Hearts has a unique feature that other Hydrangeas don't. It features strong stems and glossy foliage for a vibrant, healthy look even when not in full bloom. The textured leaves are adorned with toothy edges for an added perk!

In acid soils, the interior of each bloom will be a lovely blue shade. If you have alkaline soils, a delightful pink will color your blossoms. Either way, as the huge bouquets of hearts mature, the color will transition to a light green, an additional splash of vibrant color for your landscape. Hardy in USDA growing zones 5-9, Edgy® Hearts grows to a mature height of 2-4 feet tall and a similar spread.

Planting and Application:

Plant one as an accent near a front window or door so you won't miss a moment of its spectacular summer display. These also work well as a short, ornamental hedge along a shed or patio. Adorn the front of your home's foundation with a row of these luscious blossoms, or along the sidewalk to separate your yard from the street beautifully. Try standing a pair astride your driveway entrance or on either side of your home's front door for a curb appeal boost like no other!

Small enough to accommodate planters around your porch or patio, balcony gardens and container gardeners with ease. Smaller urban gardens and modern courtyards both can enjoy these brilliant blossoms and handsome foliage! Try a row behind your smaller perennials or create an allée behind some seating or a sculpture to highlight the area further! Add to pollinator and cottage gardens, and of course, cut flower gardens because the flowers hold up well as a cut flower for your kitchen table or dried for craft projects.

  • Heart-Shaped Pink Petals Edged in White
  • Huge Bouquets of Unique Blossoms
  • Glossy Foliage & Strong Stems
  • Pink or Blue Depending on pH
  • Great Cut Flowers, Container Gardens & Low Hedges

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Bigleaf Hydrangeas do best in full sun in cooler climates but appreciate morning sun and afternoon shade in hotter growing zones. There are no significant disease or insect issues with Edgy® Hearts, so plant them with an easy mind in any kind of well-drained soil that remains consistently moist all growing season and especially through the hot summer months. Mulch the site well to further hold in moisture and keeps the roots cool. Be sure to only prune Bigleaf Hydrangea after they've bloomed, or else you will accidentally cut off next year's flowers.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Plant in Moist Well-Drained Conditions
  • Mulch to Keep Roots Cool
  • Prune Only After Flowering
  • Blue in Acid Soil & Pink in Alkaline Soil
