  • Prefers Moist Soil And Full Sun-Part Shade
  • Compact, Low Growing Strain
  • Self Seeding, Great for Naturalizing

The Biedermeier Columbine (Aquilegia 'Biedermeier') is a beautiful, easy to grow, spring blooming perennial. Full of nodding purple, rosy pink, light blue and white flowers, this perennial will grace whatever landscape it is added to with its elegant blooms and interesting foliage.

The lovely blue-green foliage adds texture year round, and even fall color, to any of your perennial beds. The mix of colors and its low growing habit make this special Columbine stand out from the rest.

A Biedermeier Columbine should be planted in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soil for best results. Columbines are a profuse self-seeder, so it is recommended for these to be planted 12 to 18 inches apart. The planting area could double in a few years because of the prolific reseeding characteristics of the plant.

Quickly naturalizing and filling sweeping areas with their unique leaves and multi-colored flowers, 'Biedermeier' can be contained by deadheading right after they finish blooming. Feel free to use them as a cut flower, to enjoy in your favorite vase.

The Biedermeier Columbine can be used in many applications, like rock gardens or in containers, beds and borders, in cottage gardens and butterfly gardens. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and other pollinators, but deer tend to leave it alone.

Purchase your Biedermeier Columbine today and you will soon enjoy this popular, easy growing, colorful flowering variety in your garden!
