Where to Plant

• Sunlight: This tropical beauty thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light daily to produce its signature crimson blooms. While it can tolerate partial shade in the afternoon, you will likely see fewer flowers and more vine growth as the plant stretches for light.
• Soil: Plant in well drained, loamy soil that is rich in organic matter to mimic its natural tropical habitat. If you have heavy clay, mix in compost or peat moss to improve drainage, as "wet feet" will quickly lead to root rot and yellowing leaves.

Watering Requirements

During the first growing season, water your Mandevilla two to three times a week to keep the root ball consistently moist but not soggy. Once established, the Sun Parasol® series is quite drought tolerant, though inconsistent watering can lead to flower drop or smaller blooms. Aim to water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch to maintain the plant's high energy levels for continuous flowering.

Pruning Tips

Because this vine blooms on new wood, you should prune it in late winter or very early spring before new growth begins to emerge. Simply trim back stems to maintain the desired shape and remove any thin or dead wood to encourage vigorous new shoots that will carry the season's blossoms. Fertilizer Needs
