#ProPlantTips for Care
Polana Raspberry needs full sun for the best fruit set. It appreciates at least 6 hours of direct sunlight, and should be planted away from structures for proper air circulation.
Especially during fruit production, Raspberries require a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over the roots to cut down on surface evaporation.
When planting, you can even create a tiny hill, or berm to help keep water near the roots of your plant. Raspberries do love regular water.
Create a raised bed with handfuls of organic matter incorporated into the soil. Be sure to add Nature Hills Root Booster to the top few inches of soil to support your plant's absorption of water and nutrients.
Prune everbearing Raspberries after the first year. Leave the plant alone during the first season.
Starting the second year, in spring. You'll select 6 of the best new canes and trim them back with a 45-degree angled cut. Remove the weak, spindly new growth completely.
Harvest your first crop from the old canes in late spring. Once harvest is done, remove old canes and place them in your yard waste bin.
In mid-spring and early summer, apply a slow-release fertilizer according to directions. This heavy feeder would also like a top-dressing of compost every other year.
Order from Nature Hills for a commercial-grade plant. Polana is a wonderful investment in your future. Share your healthy, great-tasting homegrown fruit with family and friends!
