Arctic Babe Nectarine
The perfect tree for a small garden or container
We are super excited to be able to offer this brand new nectarine to the home gardener! This is the first selection of a new generation of dwarf fruit trees that are going to take the home garden by storm.
Arctic Babe Nectarine (Prunus persica var. nucipersica ‘Arctic babe’) is the first white-fleshed miniature nectarine. Now, when we say miniature, you are probably thinking that we mean very tiny fruit…and what’s the big deal about that? Who wants little itty-bitty nectarines? You want fruit so big that the juice runs down your chin with the first bite!
What we mean by ‘miniature’ is that the tree matures at – get ready for this – 4-6 feet tall! That’s all! But the fruit is full-sized! So if you live somewhere that doesn’t even have room for a dwarf fruit tree (which, even though they are ‘dwarf’ can still grow 12-15 feet tall) then you are about to enter a whole new world of gardening possibilities.
Arctic Babe is small enough to fit into a container or tuck into the smallest corner planter on your patio. It is so small that you can cover the whole tree to protect the blooms in the event of an unseasonable frost. It is so small that you can easily thin it and easily harvest all of the fruit without losing the top ones because you can’t reach them.
And about that fruit…it is full sized and super-sweet, everything you could want from a summer nectarine. These fruits ripen mid-May to Mid-June and are perfect for eating fresh, churning into ice-cream or baking into pies.
Don’t let your lack of space ever keep you from growing the summer fruits that you love again. Buy your Arctic Babe from us today!
