Deep, Heat Tolerant Color

To achieve great color without sun burning or discoloration, Cercis x Merlot was a hybrid cross of a heat tolerant Texas redbud called the 'Texas White' with the popular Cercis Canadensis 'Forest Pansy'.

The result is the Merlot Redbud, a burgundy leafed selection that has a wider range of adaptability than the Forest Pansy. It will hold its great color throughout the summer in the hotter, drier regions.

The popularity of the beautiful Forest Pansy Redbud has been increasing for many years. The spring bloom along with the brilliant red foliage have long been a landscape favorite. The Merlot Redbud is an improvement of the Forest Pansy for those that live in hot, dry climates.
