Tulips, Allium, Daffodils, Crocus and the list of bulbs can go on and on! These mixtures provide a brilliant range of rich and striking spring colors. When planted in masses in the fall, either in a garden bed or in borders, spring will greet you with a spectacular array of color; try planting flowers with different bloom times, and you will have a display until late spring.

These amazing bulbs need to be planted in fall with well-drained soil, full sun to partial sun, 6 inches deep and 3-6 inches apart. The foliage needs to mature and die down once blooming has stopped. Do not cut back because the next spring’s bulbs get nutrition from the leaves and get ready to go dormant. Once the foliage is dried up, it can be cut away. This is a good reason to plant bulbs among later blooming perennials so the old, dying foliage of flowering bulbs can be hidden.

Choose a location, then plan your color scheme. Alliums come in a wide range of sizes and colors, so plant a variety close to where you can enjoy their scent. The Lily Flowering Tulip looks stunning among early blooming perennials; they come in many colors and bloom late in the season. Being a magnificent cut flower with sturdy stems, the tulip is always popular for spring landscaping. Be creative and mix flower bulbs that work together and bloom simultaneously. Be sure to get them in the ground before the ground is frozen!
