Summer Gold

The Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm Black-Eyed Susan’, Rudbeckia fulgida, is an easy to grow perennial with large flower heads of golden- yellow and black to brown centers.

The flower heads are 3½ to 5 inches across, with a plant spread of 18-24” and a height of 24”.  The dark green foliage sits at the bottom on the tall daisy-like flowers that bloom from July to September.

Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm' Black Eyed-Susan was selected Perennial of the Year in 1999, and one can see why!  It is an extremely showy plant that is excellent for cut flowers; also heat and humidity tolerant.

This Black-Eyed Susan needs to be grown in full sun in somewhat moist soil conditions in a well-drained area.

Rudbeckia attracts butterflies, provides food for birds in the winter and is mildew-resistant.

For a stunning display, plant 'Goldsturm' in masses with Veronica ‘Goodness Grows’, Alchemilla ‘Lady’s Mantle’ or with ornamental grasses.

* Large 5" Yellow Daisies All Summer
* Heat and Drought Tolerant
* Attracts Wildlife

Proven Claybuster but can be a bit invasive... Review by gardennewbie999
Rating
This Perennial is a proven clay buster for those with clay soil. I have one that I got from nature hills last year. Dispite it not blooming the first year, it did manage to produce itself near the original plant and I ended up finding two other babies on the opposite side of the garden near my daylilies. It seems a bit it can be a bit invasive given the fact that it seems to reproduce fairly easily. As long as you watch for seedings you should be okay. A very hardy and forgiving perennial. Good for beginners and clay gardens.
