Powis Castle Wormwood
Silvery Lace in Full Sun
Powis Castle Wormwood, Artemisia 'Powis Castle', has a silvery, soft and lacy foliage that makes a good ground cover in mass plantings.
It is an evergreen low shrub that grows 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. The finely divided foliage gives it a soft and pleasant appearance and makes a stunning groundcover. It will grow very quickly and allows a garden to fill in.
It is a great selection for warmer climates since it tolerates heat and humidity very well. ‘Powis Castle’ is easy to grow, and adapts to most conditions. Grow it in full sun or part shade with moderate to occasional water. Feed once a year with a slow release fertilizer.
Considered a workhorse in any garden, ‘Powis Castle’ is an excellent choice for rock garden plantings and containers. Small yellow flowers form in mid-summer and last until fall. The yellow blooms are suited for filling the outer edge of a wreath.
The soft ferny leaves make an aromatic bouquet ideally suited for crafting fresh herbal wreaths or drying for potpourri.
