White Lily of the Nile
White fireworks for your garden!
White Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus africanus ‘Albus’) is just what your warm weather garden needs! If you live in a mild-winter area (Zones 8-11) this hardy evergreen will add pizzazz wherever you put it.
Strappy, deep green, fountain-like leaves fill in thickly at the base of the plant and add soft texture and motion to the garden year round. In spring each plant shoots up several strong stalks up to 2 ½ feet high from the middle of the clumps. Each stalk holds a round umbel of dozens of pure white lily-trumpet flowers.
Agapanthus are typically found in shades of blue, from sky to denim to indigo. White Lily-of the Nile is a perfect contrast, both softening and energizing the colors of the agapanthus around it.
These are excellent in containers and will fit into borders or beds with ease. They work well in just about any garden style from modern to cottage. These are also one of the best plants for around a swimming pool. They are well-mannered and don’t leave any sort of mess. They also handle the heat and bright reflected light off of pool area like a champ.
These are perfect in xeric or water-wise gardens. They always look perky and fresh and add height and fun drama to your landscape.
These easy-care plants give a great return on their investment. Don’t miss them in your garden this year!
