The rolled petals have a luxurious sheen and shimmer in the sun as bees and butterflies seek out the rich pollen and nectar resources!
Standing atop long, slender stems and backed by a gorgeous mound of green foliage with toothy margins. Dahlia blooms all growing season in full sun or partial shade, preferring a wide range of soil types so long as the location is well-drained. Ensure even moisture, by adding 3-4 inches of mulch helps considerably. Soak the tubers for a few hours before planting and plant them with their fingers spread out gently and pointing downwards. Dahlia tubers can be dug after frost, then place in paper bags or boxes of sand in a cool place and sprinkle a little water on the tubers periodically to keep them from drying out.
