Small Garden Loving Twisted Brilliance Arborvitae

  • Soft Deep Green Foliage
  • Dense Branches Great for Hedges
  • Full Sun to Part Shade
  • 4 Seasons of Colorful Interest

Some shrubs can only be described as huggable and snuggable. Twisted Brillance Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Degroot's Spire') looks as soft as a feather with its gorgeous green foliage.

This specimen has shorter foliage than most others in the Thuja family. It gets its name from the slightly spiraled growth habit the branches grow in.

There's no need for pruning here, this evergreen keeps its bracts nice and neat all on its own.

Landscapes in need of a little winter color can look to this arborvitae. The dark green foliage tingest slightly purple, giving it additional interest in those monochrome months.

This evergreen's upright and narrow form makes it the perfect way to add a bit of texture into gardens low on space.

You can also use them as privacy screens or as an accent in your perennial gardens. Since they don't lose their color in the winter they'll also work well in rock gardens!

Make sure to plant in full sun and well-drained soil for the happiest and healthiest plant. If you live in a particularly warm climate, it might appreciate some light afternoon shade.

We suggest giving Arborvitae a layer of mulch around the base. It doesn't like its roots drying out and the mulch will help maintain cool moist soil which they love.
