Twilight Zone Little Bluestem Grass
Stunning grass with iridescent sheen!
The idea of planting native grasses in home landscapes has really taken off across the United States. You can find them in mixed beds or in mass plantings everywhere. There are many great grasses for the home gardener, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find one as beautiful and unique as Twilight Zone Little Bluestem Grass (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Twilight Zone' PP27432).
We are very excited to bring you this new form of schizachyrium. It has been a stand-out in garden trials across the nation for its superior ease to grow and its absolutely gorgeous look.
Twilight Zone is a mounding, but very erect-growing, grass. It shoots straight up and then as the season progresses begins to relax down, giving it a soft fountain-like look. It is a great juxtaposition to low groundcovers or big-leaved perennials.
Even though the form is exceptional, it’s the color that will send you to the next dimension. It starts off spring green when it first emerges after the winter. But long before other native grasses start their fall color change, Twilight Zone switches to a ‘must-see-it-to-believe-it’ iridescent silver/mauve/purple sheen over the entire plant in midsummer! It keeps this gorgeous color until fall when it gets even more beautiful with a brighter purple color highlighting the stems. It looks truly stunning with silver-leaved plants like artemisia or dusty miller.
No matter where you plant it – full sun, light shade, wet spot or dry, Twilight Zone Little Bluestem will perform like a champ. (It is especially good for restoration work in hot, dry areas where other plants struggle to grow.)
Don’t be afraid to cross into the Twilight Zone and order this gorgeous and high-performing grass from us today! You’ll be so glad you did.
