Tea Olive Tree
Dense Evergreen with Months of Fragrant Blooms!
Some floral scents draw you into a garden. Some make you want to come closer for a deeper whiff. Some are engrained in your memory from gardens past. Fragrant Tea Olive (Osmanthus fragrans) will make you stop dead in your tracks and wonder if you’re in heaven.
A cross between gardenia and jasmine wafts from dainty white flowers in early spring and again in late fall. (Zone 7 – 10). Fragrant Tea Olive, is grown for the amazing scent. It isn’t a true olive, so it doesn’t produce edible fruit. It is generally grown because has dense, glossy evergreen leaves and can be pruned into a small tree, a large shrub or a soft hedge.
It’s such a beautiful and wonderfully scented shrub that you’d think it would be a diva in the garden, but it’s not. It is disease-resistant, only needs occasional pruning and just wants a sunny spot to be really happy.
Whether you order it for its beauty or its fragrance, you will be glad you bought it and wonder why you didn’t order more.
