Bold variegated foliage, the fine-textured Stuttgart Canna Lily (Canna 'Stuttgart') is a gorgeous garden beauty with broad, pointed leaves splashed, streaked and striped light and dark green mixed with creamy white! Atop vertical stems sit the smaller yet just as striking bright orange to red ombre blooms that are a Hummingbird and bee favorite! The petals fade to almost yellow on the tips with the red at the base of each curly trumpet-shaped bloom!

Those smaller blooms will still have an incredible impact, especially when planted in drifts and rows to further highlight the tall flower spikes and those incredible variegated leaves even further! Naturalizing in warm growing zones and lighting up container and garden beds alike, the Canna Lily is a vibrant beacon in any sunny location!

Variegated Stuttgart Canna Lilies grow from fibrous rhizomes and they grow fast! These flamboyant blooms flower all summer! Hardy outdoors year-round in USDA growing zones 8 through 11 but can be enjoyed as either annual accents in all growing zones. Canna can also be lifted and stored for the winter in a frost-free location in all northern climates.

Planting and Application:

These variegated foliage ornamentals look great in drifts, rows and groupings in any sunny garden bed or border. Their upright, space-saving nature lights up borders and as backdrops to garden beds. Any sunny location gains a specimen focal point, annual accents, or en masse spectacle!

The tropical flair looks fantastic in both containers and in garden beds alike. Cannas love moisture, so use them around your Rain gardens and water features, ponds and patios alike! The big blooms enliven the front porch plantings and the poolside garden! Mixed planters and balcony pots gain a tall shock of color. Combine with other exotic plants or summer flowering bulbs like Gladiolus, Elephant Ears, Banana plants, and Flowering Ginger.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The ideal location for these full-sun rhizomatic plants is in moderately moist to almost wet enriched soil, which should always well-drained. It is also a good idea to ensure that Canna has a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over the surface. Provide regular fertilizer and deadhead when blooming is done. Canna rhizomes are not frost-hardy and do need to be dug in the fall before they freeze in zones 2 through 7. Keep them in a cool, frost-free area in a bag in a garage or shed.
