Golden Elf Spirea
The Spiraea 'Golden Elf', Spiraea japonica 'Golden Elf', is an incredible new dwarf Spiraea from Canada which is great for rock gardens, borders and mixing into the perennial garden. It can also be used as an edging plant for paths or walkways.
This little yellow leaved beauty only grows to 6-8 inches high and has a spreading habit. It looks and acts a whole lot more like a ground cover perennial!
Tiny pink flowers in small flat-topped clusters appear in late spring. Some sporadic rebloom sometimes occurs in summer.
'Golden Elf' is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun. It also tolerates a wide range of soils.
Flowering on new wood, this low maintenance shrub may be pruned to shape in late winter to early spring. It retains its leaf color through the fall.
True to its name, the Golden Elf has bright golden foliage that hugs the ground, and sticks around all season!
