Backed by a lovely 12-15 inch tall and wide mound of scratchy-looking foliage, these space savers pump out blooms til frost in some areas of USDA growing zones 5 through 9.

Planting and Application:

Plant Gaillardia in natural-looking drifts in sunny mixed perennial borders. Perfect for fall color in Cottage and Perennial gardens, as butterfly-covered Cutting garden plants, or to rev up that boring mailbox garden! This sun-loving perennial makes an exceptional mass planting to fill a bland area with blazing color. Watch as essential pollinators and gorgeous butterflies visit to take their fill of nutritious nectar.

They love sharply drained soils, so showcase them in Rock Gardens. Edge your borders in an eye-catching band of long-lasting color with these space-saving smaller perennial plants. Plant them nine inches apart, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next for a solid row.

Blanket Flowers greet your guests with their cheerful little flower faces. Keep them in single-species containers on your porch, or mix them into an all-season mix with Yucca and Ice Plant. Love as edging along paths and walkways, plant around ornamental grasses, Asters, and Coreopsis for long-lasting sunny displays late in the growing season.

  • Showy Red & Yellow Centers
  • Cool-Toned, Gray-Green Foliage & Compact, Upright Mounding Habit

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Give Gaillardia a spot in full sun, where the soil drains quickly after a rain. They won't tolerate wet heavy clay soils or areas that might be wet in winter. Once their roots are established, they'll become a durable, Waterwise addition to a Xeric landscape. Thriving in average to low fertility and almost any type of well-drained soil. Gaillardia self-seeds, so deadhead after the blooms fade is recommended, and to encourage a rebloom, but if you miss a few in the fall - the songbirds will help themselves to the snack. Prune back in late fall once the foliage begins to yellow.

  • Loves Full Sun
  • Well-Drained Average Soil & Moderate Moisture
  • Deadhead for Rebloom & Prune Late Fall
  • Low Maintenance
  • Heat Tolerant & Waterwise Once Established
  • Seldom Damaged by Deer
