Sierra Spreader Juniper (Juniperus sabina 'Sierra Spreader') is an amazing Juniper, well-known for its weed-choking bright green foliage.

Deceivingly spikey, these actually have soft foliage. Low growing and tightly-branched, the foliage holds its color through winter's cold and summer's heat.

Sierra Spreader has a wonderful sculptural interest and is a living carpet of bright evergreen. Plus the fresh, verdant fragrance that only a quality Juniper can emit. Plus, berries for birds, Juniper are beautiful shrubs with year-round appeal.

How to Use Sierra Spreader Juniper In The Landscape

The handsome bright-green foliage looks best unpruned however, you can if needed. Sierra Spreader is slower spreading because of its dense growth.

Spreading outwards to 6' wide, smothering weeds as it grows, Juniper is a widely-used groundcover, prized for its size and its color and versatility.

The ability to grow in poor, rocky soil makes these perfect in borders, rock gardens, urban areas, and the 'hell strip' along the road. Displaying great salt tolerance, it's wonderful for coastal sites.

Lovely in Asian and Zen-inspired gardens, these are also perfectly sized for containers. Juniper is wonderful for those hot sunny spots where it can be a carefree addition as a spiller plant.

Mass plantings of Sierra Spreader bring lush greenery to harsh sunny slopes and spills over retaining walls, and great on hillsides as erosion control!

#ProPlantTips For Care

Sierra Spreader Juniper is very hardy, adaptive to a variety of conditions. Especially heat tolerant they're also resistant to winter injury. Deer will tend to pass it by.

Doing amazing in full sun, Sierra Spreader handles a little shade without losing color.

Not particular to soil type, any well-drained, sandy, rocky or highly aerated soil will do just fine. The only thing Junipers dislike is wet, soggy soil that will rot its roots.

Amazingly versatile and hardy plants, the Sierra Spreader Juniper is a fantastic groundcover! Be sure to order your living carpet from Nature Hills Nursery today!
