Scabiosa Pink Mist
Ballerina-Pink Pincushions All Season
At Nature Hills we love flowers that need to be looked at close-up. When flowers are unique enough to make you stop and look closer they demand that you slow down just a little bit. Who couldn’t use a few moments of contemplation of a flower? If you agree with us, then you will love Scabiosa Pink Mist (SCABIOSA columbaria Pink Mist). This is an old garden favorite that works really well in the modern garden. The pincushion flower heads all but demand that you look more closely.
The ballerina-pink blooms are perfect for edging your borders and definitely belong in your cutting garden. The grey-green foliage is striking with the pink flowers. The colors are reminiscent of faded damask and are very chic in flower arrangements.
Pink Mist has wonderful 2" pink flowers that bloom from June to October, a very full bloom season.
It is best to plant Pink Mist Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil. They should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase their overall performance.
Deadheading them after the first flush of bloom will encourage repeat bloom time. 'Pink Mist' is great for attracting butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators. They are excellent in rock gardens, borders, perennial beds and even in containers.
