Rhododendron - Henry's Red, Rhododendron 'Henry's Red', features stunning clusters of lightly-scented ruby red trumpet-shaped flowers at the ends of the branches. It is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with dark green slightly twisted foliage. It matures into an upright spreading shrub and has narrow leaves that turn an outstanding purple in the fall! Henry's Red Rhododendron is a multi-stemmed evergreen shrub that takes on a rounded form. Henry’s Red is a rather low maintenance shrub that can be pruned only after flowering. This easy care rhododendron needs excellent drainage, mulching and a peat moss soil additive. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil, so well-drained soil is a must! Henry’s Red requires regular waterings, particularly in hot, dry weather; established plants can benefit from fertilization. Rhododendrons are ornamental, acidic-soil loving broad-leaf evergreens and are ideal for shrub borders and informal hedges. The most favorable time to prune is when there are no flower buds in the early spring, just before growth begins.
