Rhododendron Grandiflorum

Out of stock

Rhododendron - Grandiflorum, Rhododendron catawbiense 'Grandiflorum', is a broadleaf evergreen that is a vigorous grower and useful for background plantings.

It produces an abundance of large, light lavender-blue flowers on trusses in late May; trusses are 5” to 6” in diameter!

The dorsal petal of each flower is speckled with green, yellow, cinnamon-red or brown. Grandiflorum has foliage that is dense and dark green which creates a gorgeous combination with its bell-shaped flower clusters.

Grandiflorum is an easy care rhododendron that needs excellent drainage, mulching and a peat moss soil additive. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil, so well-drained soil is a must!

Grandiflorum requires regular watering, particularly in hot, dry weather; established plants can benefit from fertilization.

Rhododendrons are ornamental, acidic-soil loving broad-leaf evergreens and are beautiful used in a natural setting, single specimen or mass planting, and an excellent choice for a blooming hedge.
