This gorgeous poppy variety will give you more poppies to love, with a late spring bloom that is repeated in early summer. Manhattan Oriental Poppy features 4 to 6-inch, crepe paper-thin blooms, the satiny petals alive with bright fuchsia shades, and kissed with a splash of black at the base of the petals. The center of the overlapping petals hosts an otherworldly seed pod, its velvety stamens awash with shades of deep purple and a sprinkling of cream.
It's a poppy that begs to be approached for a closer look, alight in brilliant color and ruffled texture. Even the foliage is a delight. The deeply-serrated, silver/green leaves providing accent to the delicate blossoms, held aloft on fuzzy stems that seem to drift on the slightest breeze.
Your Manhattan Oriental Poppy has an upright, spreading nature and is adaptable to a variety of soils. Pollinators love Manhattan, especially hummingbirds which will often be seen humming around its ruffled petals in search of a treat.
