MiniBeckia™ Flame Rudbeckia

Availability: Out of stock

Bright things come in tiny packages! The brilliantly colored and delightfully petite MiniBeckia™ Flame Rudbeckia (Rudbeckia x 'Flame') has everything you love about these pollinator-friendly summer and fall Black-Eyed Susans! Featuring large flowers with brown fuzzy raised centers, these semi-double petals have glowing russet-orange eyes and golden-yellow toothy petals!

Sitting atop a densely compact mound of dark-green foliage that is characteristically scratchy and coarse, these free-flowering clumps call pollinators from summer until frost! Just a bit of deadheading is needed to keep your perennials looking fresh and keep the blooms returning until frost! Then the seedheads remain to feed songbirds and sculpt the winter snow!

Flame Rudbeckia forms tidy mounds of densely branched stems and full clumps of foliage that thrive in both heat and occasional drought throughout USDA growing zones 5 - 10! Despite being miniature versions of their larger native Black-Eyed Susan cousins, there is no shortage in flower power, nor is there a reduction in bloom size, just the overall height and width at maturity!

Planting and Application:

Flame lights up the late summer and autumn garden, giving pollinators a final buffet to feast on before winter. Pollinator gardens and autumn Native plantings gain a lasting boost of color while bird-friendly and wildflower gardens have something to offer as well! If you don't deadhead, your flowers will leave behind seed heads for winter interest and free birdseed!

MiniBeckia™ is ideally suited for containers and planters, where they won't mind a hot sunny location and won't take up much space! Porch pots get a seasonal upgrade, while garden beds gain a lingering fall bloomer that keeps blooming until frost. Pot up this mini-perennial stunner in containers around your firepit, or add Flame to your container garden collection for autumn front porch decorating! It will look perfect with some gourds and fall garland as the finishing touches to your autumn display!

The smaller size is perfect for use as edging and facer plants, adding late-season blooms for migrating and hibernating pollinators along the edges of your garden beds! Pop groupings throughout your Rock Gardens and Cottage borders, and intersperse among your mixed perennial garden beds for fiery color that rounds out the entire season!

  • Large Coarse Green Leaves

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Rudbeckia are tough perennials that thrive in hot full sun and tolerate moderately moist soil and even some drought once established. Provide a very well-drained site with a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch for best results and water during prolonged drought.

Deadhead as soon as flowers fade to encourage a rebloom, and in the fall trim back any plant that had issues with powdery mildew or insect issues. Because this is so rarely an issue with these resistant plants, you shouldn't need to prune at all until spring before new growth emerges! Every 3-5 years, divide your clumps to maintain their growing vigor (and enjoy expanding your garden!).

  • Full Sun
  • Must Have Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture & Mulch
  • Deadhead to Keep Blooms Returning
  • Prune Fall or Spring
