Perfect for Indoors!
You see these trees in your favorite style magazines, usually in beautifully aged terra-cotta pots with moss at their base, sitting in front of a sunny window, and you think that you could never grow such a pretty tree in your house. Not true! The Fukushu Kumquat will prove you wrong.
Fukushu is a naturally dwarf citrus tree with pretty oval-round evergreen leaves and a round growth habit that doesn’t need much pruning to keep its photo-ready shape. These are extremely easy to grow, even for the novice.
They flower from June to August filling your home with a sweet scent. Then, in November the tree is covered in little bright orange fruit that can stay on the tree until March. That is, if you can keep yourself from eating them all as soon as they are ripe!
Fantastic eaten fresh-picked, they also are great to cook, can and bake with. In China, a small potted kumquat tree is often near the dining table and the fruits are picked and eaten between courses. Like all kumquats, you can eat the fruit whole - rind, seeds and all. The skin is the thinnest of any kumquat, and has a sweet taste that combines with the tangy-sweet flesh to give a taste-explosion in your mouth.
Our trees arrive ready for planting in your favorite container, or in your garden if you live where citrus thrives outdoors. It only gets 6 to 10 feet tall in the garden (shorter in the pot), so it makes a great focal point tree.
