Most of us have "that one spot" in our landscapes. You know the one...where nothing seems to grow.

If you are tired of that eyesore, try this colorful solution. Kodiak Red Diervilla (Diervilla x 'G2X885411' PP 28,403) is a native, low-growing shrub that performs beautifully, even in the shade.

With gorgeous leaves and flowers, Kodiak Red is a "go to" for many garden designers. Allow these durable plants to spread out in a mounded form. They'll fill in your wide, open areas with brilliant color.

New growth emerges deep burgundy in spring, and transitions to dark green with a red edge. As the season progresses, clusters of delicate, pale yellow flowers appear.

The blooms are a clarion call to local honey bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Feel good about using these pest-free, ground-hugging flowering shrubs. You'll provide an ecologically sound, nectar-rich resource.

Watch in fall as the leaves burnish into vivid red. Enjoy the amazing foliage color!

Be sure to snip some of the long, straight branches in your cut flower arrangements. This low-maintenance plant can also be added as "Filler" to large outdoor containers.

Like other varieties in the Kodiak Diervilla series from Proven Winners, this Bush Honeysuckle isn't invasive. Rather, it will grow to its mature spread as listed in the Plant Highlights. Plan its use well, and then let it do its thing for you!

You'll appreciate this carefree colonizer when you think of it as a larger-scale, spreading groundcover. Fill those difficult spots with amazing foliage color that turns vivid red in fall and yellow flowers throughout the summer.

Consider this plant as a replacement for Burning Bush. People love the fall color, and we run out of this customer favorite each time a new crop comes ready.

Nature Hills works with professional landscape designers across the country. They rely on this workhorse to add color and do well in many soil types and sun exposures.

Order today, and buy enough to complete your entire project. You'll adore Kodiak Red Bush Honeysuckle!

How to Use Kodiak Red Bush Honeysuckle in the Landscape

These native plants are simply perfect for mass planting. They will cover ground and make a huge statement for you.

Add them to your foundation planting for a bold, deep accent. You can easily keep them manicured with a quick, regular pruning in early spring.

Amp up the appeal of your dim and gloomy shady spots with Kodiak Red. They will develop into a special focal point along a woodland path, or beside mature evergreen trees.

Include them in large containers anywhere you'd like some color. Use their natural colorway as a style cue. Plant them in burgundy, red, bright yellow or dark green resin pots. They'll look incredible in neutral khaki or dark gray glazed pots, as well.

For a naturalized landscape, use them as a free-form sculptural accent. Of course, they can also be used on a slope as a safer replacement for turf. No need to trim or mow!

Create outstanding informal edges with a hedge of Kodiak Red. They can be used to great effect as a transition between lawn and woods.

Space them 3 feet on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Allow the branches to grow together. Keep new mass plantings weeded, and add mulch between the plants.

Kodiak Red is rarely damaged by deer. It's disease resistant, pest-free and truly easy care.

Try it in your most challenging sites or for naturalizing, foundation plantings, hedges, wildlife gardens and mixed borders. This is one of those great and versatile native plants that you should own.

#ProPlantTips for Care

This Diervilla is adaptable to most soils. It grows in a variety of sun exposures. In other words, you can plant it just about anywhere.

For the best foliage color, plant it in full sun where it will get 6 or more hours of sun a day. However, it will also perform well in partially shady areas. We've seen it do well even in low light situations.

This low maintenance plant won't require much of your time or effort. Just give a medium amount of water on a regular basis for best results. Every other year, you'll want to top dress with a three-inch layer of mulch over the root system to keep it cool and moist.

Prune in early spring to shape or shorten. If you want to keep Kodiak Red smaller, just plan to trim it in early spring. You can shape or shorten it with early trimming.

Make a statement with the Kodiak Red Bush Honeysuckle this season. Order from the expert growers at Nature Hills today!
