Juniper Japanese Garden
Only room for one? Let it be this one!
Evergreens can get a bad rap. They often grow slowly. They don’t flower. They’re just…well…always green. And you know what Kermit says about that. “It’s not easy.”
But the true plant lover can see the nuances and character in even the lowliest shrub. That is especially true of plants that have been cultivated for centuries and doubly true of plants that meet the sky-high standards of the art of bonsai, where they are scrutinized and fawned over for years.
Japanese Garden Juniper is one such plant. Lushly green, slow growing, easy to overlook. But don’t do that. If you take just a minute to savor the beauty of this plant you will see why it has been a favorite of gardeners the world over for centuries.
Japanese Garden Juniper forms a dense mound of branches that hug the ground, radiating out from the center of the trunk. The new growth is bright green and gets a rich blue hue as it ages. When the weather turns cooler, it gets a purple tinge.
This is a great shrub for a rocky slope, a container or to train into a topiary/bonsai. (It doesn’t need to be trained, though. It’s natural “wild” shape is beautiful.)
We give this one high marks for any garden, but especially for a tiny city garden or balcony. If you only have room for one evergreen, this should be the one! Order it today!
