As glamorous as its namesake, the Ingrid Bergman® Hybrid Tea Rose Tree (Rosa 'POUlman') dazzles with impeccable poise, grace, and polished style! No wonder it was given the Award of Garden Merit given by the Royal Horticultural Society and named "the World's Best Rose" by the World Federation of Rose Societies!

Filled to the brim with luxuriously dark-red, velvety petals, Ingrid Bergman® will enliven your garden with exquisite beauty all growing season! Only now, she's elevated onto a grand 2-3 foot tall Rose standard! This straight, strong trunk is expertly grafted and holds those gorgeous red blooms higher for your eyes and nose to enjoy! These velvety, dark red Roses feature up to 35 petals each and are crowned with high centers. Held singly or with side buds on long, strong stems.

Ingrid Bergman® Roses have a moderate, spicy fragrance, but let's face it … they are grown for their exhibition form and long stems that grace fresh-cut flower arrangements. Highlighted by dramatically glossy, dark green foliage, the large blossoms of this Hybrid Tea Rose tree have a vibrancy that will steal the show and rebloom from late spring until fall! Dark green and glossy, the foliage stays clean without a rigorous spray routine, especially when given optimal growing conditions.

Perfect in any sunny landscape setting, Ingrid Bergman® is a definitively modern Rose with all the perks and benefits that entails. Disease-resistance, adaptability, and ease of care, you won't have to fuss over this gorgeous shrub! Vigorous and compactly growing, these are fuss-free Roses! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 9 and grows 5 - 7 feet in height and 3-4 feet in width fast each growing season. Not as fussy as old-fashioned blooms, this Rose tree is very tolerant of a wide range of climates and conditions. It's no wonder why this Rose has won many awards since its introduction in 1984.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The Ingrid Bergman® Rose Tree needs to be planted in a protected location in full sun and with good air circulation. Hybrid Tea Roses perform best in a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight a day and this specimen Rose is worth pruning away a few tree branches and cutting back a shrub or two just to give her all the sun she needs! Think of it as getting her ready for her close-up! Roses are especially appreciative of the morning sunlight to dry their leaves of dew, reducing any instance of a disease or mildew.

This modern Rose is very disease-resistant! Provide moderate yet consistent moisture at the roots and avoid splashing the leaves with excess moisture. Support the repeat bloom with regular applications of a quality Rose fertilizer throughout the growing season. Plant in very well-enriched, heavily organic well-drained soil and a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch around the root system. Keep mulch and debris out of the crown, maintaining an open interior for air circulation and sunlight.

Rose Tree Care & Pruning

Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap it and trim the head back to about a 1-2 foot sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.

Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.

Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Pruning Roses allow for better, bushier growth each year and stimulates new growth. For more about pruning Roses, winterizing Roses, and un-wintering Roses in spring in our #ProPlantTips Garden Blog!
