Hudson Bay Hosta
Bold Tri Color Leaves
The Hosta Hudson Bay, Hosta 'Hudson Bay', displays a fabulous gradation of color with its wide, bright blue margins and lime green jetting. These colors are a beautiful contrast to the dramatic cream white middles!
Being a sport of Eskimo Pie, ‘Hudson Bay’ is a much more flashy variegated plant, and its foliage remains bright all summer. It displays short spikes of pure white flowers in early summer that are very attractive to hummingbirds.
Plant this strong, vigorous tricolored beauty where everyone can enjoy it!
'Hudson Bay' is a low care perennial and is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular landscape uses. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.
It grows well in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.
Plant 'Hudson Bay' in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring the rich color out. Too much sun will burn the leaves.
'Hudson Bay' is a gracefully mounded plant that will add rich color from spring until frost!
