Bold Colored Leaves of Shadowland® Hudson Bay Hosta

  • White Centers Surrounded by Blue Margins
  • White Flowers in Early Summer
  • Attracts Hummingbirds
  • Great for Shady Gardens

Shadowland® Hudson Bay Hosta (Hosta 'Hudson Bay' PP23598) displays a fabulous gradation of color with its wide, bright blue margins and lime green jetting. These colors are a beautiful contrast to the dramatic cream white middles!

Being a sport of Eskimo Pie, Hudson Bay is a much more flashy variegated plant, and its foliage remains bright all summer. It displays short spikes of pure white flowers in early summer that are very attractive to pollinators like butterflies. If you're lucky you might even see a curious hummingbird!

Plant this strong, vigorous tricolored beauty where everyone can enjoy it! It's great for those garden beds underneath your beautiful backyard shade tree whose canopy isn't as conducive to full sun perennials.

Hudson Bay is a low care perennial and is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular landscape uses. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.

It grows well in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.

When watering, it's important to lift up the leaves so the moisture can reach the roots directly underneath. Sometimes when watering from overhead, the leaves can act as an umbrella, leaving the roots as dry as they were before watering.

Plant Hudson Bay in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring the rich color out. Too much sun will burn the leaves.

This specimen is a gracefully mounded plant that will add rich color from spring until frost! Order yours today to complete your shade garden projects!
