Alcea Sunshine (Hollyhock), Alcea Rosea 'Sunshine', produces captivating blossoms that adds a charming appearance to a garden in midsummer. Satiny single blooms, in a bright yellow, are produced on tall, sturdy stems. Sunshine will form the perfect foundation for a background border; will bloom the first year from seed. This hollyhock prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun; drought-tolerant and suitable for xeriscaping. Hollyhocks are a short lived perennial or biennial, but will provide fabulous blooms if planted in an area where the plant will get a minimum of six hours of sun every day. They may need staking if planted in a windy location.
