Hibiscus Turn of the Century
The Hibiscus 'Turn of the Century', is a beautiful bi-colored knock out!
'Turn of the Century' has pinwheel shaped, dark-red to light pink to white flowers, spreading to 7 inches. This 6 foot tall and robust plant blooms over a long period and has beautiful maple-like leaves; shrub-like foliage.
'Turn of the Century' will be beautiful in a large container or as the feature plant in the border. It can be used as a temporary screen or tall hedge. It would also be useful in low spots or wet areas in the landscape; effective along streams or ponds.
The individual flowers last only one day, but one or more flowers usually open each day, in succession, over a long mid-summer to early fall bloom period. All summer long you'll enjoy hundreds of these beautiful flowers, along with the many butterflies, bees and hummingbirds that this plant attracts.
This hardy hibiscus will die back to the ground every winter and emerge from the ground in the middle to late spring season; cut back to 4-6" from the ground in the spring.
'Turn of the Century' grows well in any fertile, well-drained soil with ample moisture. Do not allow to dry to the wilting point. Be patient; hibiscus can be slow to emerge in spring. For best performance, plant in full sun in moist soil, before the heat of the summer.
'Turn of the Century' hibiscus is valued for its late summer display!
