Squirt Fetterbush

Out of stock
Fetterbush - Squirt, Leucothoe axillaris 'Squazam Squirt', produces fragrant, creamy white flowers that bloom in spring; sometimes call Dog Hobble. This shrub will tolerate some sun and the cut foliage is long-lasting for flower arrangements. It makes a nice screen or an attractive specimen. When one thinks of broad-leaved evergreens, rhododendrons and azaleas immediately come to mind, but there are other broad-leaved evergreens like the Leucothoe that command as much attention for beauty and usefulness in the landscape! The plants may also be known as Dog Hobble and are deer resistant. Leucothoe Squazam Squirt thrives in acid soil and full to partial shade, but will tolerate sun if soil is not dry. No pruning is necessary unless it is to shape it up. Select a site that is not windswept, and shaded to some degree; makes a good undergrowth plants that can hide "leggy" plants behind them.
