When city planners fall in love with a tree, you know it has outstanding qualities. The cultivated Allée® Elm (Ulmus parvifolia 'Emer II') is one of those trees.
These opulent plants make excellent street trees with shiny foliage, lovely fall color and extremely attractive bark. Rugged, adaptable Chinese Elm is disease-resistant and has strong branching.
It even grows fairly quickly! The rounded canopy of young trees becomes more elegantly vase-shaped with age.
Finely-toothed, green leaves remain glossy and clean all season-long. Enjoy their luxuriant shade!
As nights get colder, you'll be rewarded with a fetching fall color display, which ranges from yellow all the way through to red. As a bonus, Allée Elm has small leaves, which make fall cleanup a breeze.
An allée is an old French garden technique, which is a double row of widely spaced trees on either side of a road. As you might imagine, this named cultivar is excellent used as a street or parkway tree for commercial properties.
These trees are robust and vigorous growers, which are also well-suited for large residential lots. Elms have been beloved for use as a street tree, and Nature Hills offers many disease-resistant varieties.
You'll cherish the highly ornamental value of these special trees, with a fluted trunk and exfoliating bark. Place your order for Allée Elm today.
How to Use Allée® Elm in the Landscape
If you have room for only one shade tree, you'll never regret this choice. Relax in your space and cool your entertainment area with one planted on the south or southwestern aspect of your lawn.
On a larger property, add several in a lush grouping. Plant them from 30 to 50 feet apart, varying the distance between trees for a more natural effect.
These trees can easily be used with formal, uniform spacing, as well. Why not create your own park in your landscape?
Biodiversity is a good idea, and you can achieve a formal look with mass plantings of mixed trees, as well.
Select evergreen and smaller flowering trees, too.
Allée Elm is happy to become a steady backdrop for a row of Pink Flowering Dogwood trees, or take center stage flanked by Eastern White Pine.

Give this Elm full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. They are highly adaptable to soil type, but it must drain quickly.
We recommend you ensure your trees receive a medium amount of water, especially when it gets dry in summer. This is a good practice to keep them stress-free and in tip-top health.
Mulch is also helpful. Apply a three-inch layer over the root system. Pull back the mulch from around the trunk for proper air circulation.
Train your tree with strategic pruning in late winter, if needed. The goal is a well-balanced canopy with good airflow.
We have a limited inventory of these popular trees. The highly sought after Allée Elm will sell quickly, please order yours quickly.
