Stylish and dramatic, if you want your garden visitors to stare at your ground in disbelief, plant Dragon's Blood Sedum (Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood') groundcover. It's wonderfully rare to have such a small, easy-care perennial provide such a big impact.

And what an amazing look! Each succulent leaf looks like it's dipped in deep crimson. You'll love how dynamic this plant is. Each plant produces a wide spectrum of color as the season marches on. Flowers start off a blushing rose pink, then deepen to a rich sangria red once the weather starts turning a little cooler, then the foliage turns a bronze-red in the fall!

The blooms attract loads of butterflies and bees, but won't attract rabbits or deer. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, these low-growing Stonecrop spread up to 2 feet wide when mature! Often rooting as it spreads to fill in the gaps!

Planting and Application:

This low Stonecrop Sedum grows fast to fill space between flagstones or as an edging for low, showy borders. You'll be thrilled to see it cover bare spots or fill your garden edges with neatly rambling carpets of red and green! Rock Gardens, retaining walls, and crevice gardens are all ideal locations for perennial Stonecrops!

Use Sedum in your defensible spaces when planning fire-wise landscaping. Plant it where it's hot and dry in well-drained soil and it will thrive without a lot of help from you. These are xeric plants that thrive in the harsh hell strip along the sidewalk, and this is a perfect plant for massing, filling large areas like living mulch, or slowing erosion on slopes and hillsides that are difficult to mow!

Let Dragon's Blood fill the bare ground around a focal point plant in a large planter or as a "spiller" in container gardens and window boxes! Sedum tolerate being potted and placed in hot, sunny areas where you may forget to water them from time to time! They're quite forgiving!

  • Green Leaves Accented Blood-Red - Draws Your Eye
  • Mat-Forming Succulent Foliage
  • Ruby Red Starry Flowers - Attracts Pollinators
  • Brilliant Red Fall Color
  • Low-Maintenance, Groundcover, Containers, Edging & Between Paths

#ProPlantTips for Care:

These low-maintenance plants thrive in full sun and partial shade, especially afternoon shade in hotter climates. Sedum prefers well-drained soil and to be kept on the dry side. Water these perennials regularly to get established, afterwards, they only need supplemental watering during times of extreme heat and drought! Thriving in clay soils, gravel, and sand, any soil in full sun that is dry to medium moisture is perfect for these plants! For better moisture retention, add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil. Rake gently or prune in the very early spring, and divide clumps every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.

  • Super Easy Care in Full Sun
  • Thrives in Heat & Well-Drained Conditions - Even Poor Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs - Low Once Established
  • Prune Back In Very Early Spring
  • Rabbit & Deer Resistant, Heat & Cold Tolerant, Drought Hardy

People are on the hunt for this mat-forming and trailing perennial! Hurry and order the Dragon's Blood Sedum from Nature Hills Nursery! We will sell out fast, so please place your order today!
