Dianthus Raspberry Ruffles
Florist quality flowers don’t fade!
Dianthus Raspberry Ruffles is happy to give you loads of florist quality small carnation-like flowers for several weeks in late spring/early summer and then again in the fall. And you know how much work it takes for you to get great big flushes of blooms? Very little! This is a super easy evergreen plan that will make you look like an expert gardener no matter if you’ve ever picked up a spade before or not!
Cottage Pinks (another name for dianthus) are loved the world over for their sweet cottagey look and ease of care. You’ll find them in well-dressed borders all spring and into the summer all over Europe and the USA.
Raspberry Ruffles Dianthus has fully double, raspberry pink-colored flowers that are a whopping 1 and ¾ inches across (HUGE for a cottage pink). Every petal has a serrated edge that is outlined with a thin but distinct white line that really makes the raspberry color glow. And unlike other flowers that fade as the season wears on, Raspberry Ruffles keeps its strong color without fading.
In late spring/early summer a pop of flowers springs up over a mound of blue-green foliage. They have a nice light scent that makes them attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies. It is also a treat to bury you own nose into them!
You can encourage them to bloom a second time for you if you give them a quick shear in mid-summer.
These low growers are made for the front of the border but they also sing in containers or when planted in masses in flower beds. They aren’t bothered by deer, drought or the occasional cutting (Raspberry Ruffles make sweet little bouquets).
You will want to have these in your garden this year. Order some from us now!
