Gorgeous layers upon layers of elegantly curled and cupped petals, the Crème de Cassis Dahlia (Dahlia 'Creme de Cassis') looks like something Van Goh or Monet designed and painted! Each two-tone petal is a gorgeous creamy violet-pink with a darker wine-red edge, subtle wine-red streaks, and wine-red backs. Each bloom has an ombre effect as the lighter outer petals darken as they reach the wine-red center.

These bloom pack so much beauty that you won't be surprised they can be 4-6 inches wide! With mindful deadheading, you'll enjoy bloom after bloom from summer until frost! Backed by a mound of deeply-toothed dark green foliage, and held upon tall, graceful stems, it's no wonder that Dahlia is beloved by young and old, and pollinators and hummingbirds alike!

Crème de Cassis Dahlia is outdoors hardy throughout USDA growing zones 9-11 and are great houseplants throughout all growing zones. Cold growing zones can enjoy Dahlia all growing season, just bring your tubers indoors for the winter. Dahlia can be dug in the fall, cut off the stems and green, and let them dry a few days before putting them in moist sand in a box and stored in the basement or wherever it is above freezing until spring.

Planting and Application:

These gorgeous blooms are specimens and focal points in the garden. Butterflies and bees will adore these blooms and hummingbirds too. Crème de Cassis complements other late summer flowers such as Coneflowers, Rudbeckia, Verbena and Asters. Plant them in your pollinator gardens, beds and borders, and in groupings so you can have armloads to bring indoors for bouquets.

These space-saving accent plants are great container and planter additions. Balcony gardeners, patio and deck planters, and even window boxes are upgraded with these tubers as focal points and fillers.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Dahlia blooms best in full sun to partial sun locations and prefers a wide range of soil types, as long as it is well-drained. Soak the tubers for a few hours before planting and plant them with their fingers spread out gently and pointing downwards. Water well and maintain consistent moisture, adding 3-4 inches of mulch helps considerably.

Dahlia tubers can be dug after frost and stored in all growing zones! Dig up the plants after the first frost to save your tubers for the next year. Let them dry out, and then place them into paper bags or boxes in a cool place and sprinkle a little water on the tubers periodically to keep them from drying out. In a frost-free climate, leave the tubers in the ground and trim the stems once they die back.

  • Full Sun to Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Organic Soil
  • Moderate Consistent Moisture
  • Easy Care Perennial Tuber
  • Lift Tubers in Cold Growing Zones in Fall After Frost
